Friday night, most or all of the Dodge City Daily Globe’s area teams were in action on the basketball court.

Dodge City falls to Hays after 18-9 4th

The Red Demons led 28-23 entering the fourth quarter, but the Hays Indians outscored the Red Demons 18-9 in the fourth to emerge with a 41-37 win Friday.

Red Demon sophomore Kisa Unruh had a game-high 14 points, and freshman Camree Johnson had 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds.

For the Indians, Savannah Schneider had a team-high 11 points and a game-high four assists.

 

Kinsley beats Spearville 42-39

The Coyotes outscored the Lancers 13-10 in the first quarter, 12-9 in the second, were outscored 10-4 in the third but outscored the Lancers 13-10, avenging an earlier loss this season via overtime to the Lancers.

The win ended a 3-game losing streak for the Coyotes, according to records on the Kansas State High School Activities Association website. They had lost to South Central, Kiowa South Barber, and Cunningham in overtime before Friday’s game.

It also snapped 2-game winning streak by the Lancers. It was the first time this year they have been held under 40 points, according to their results listed on the KSHSAA Website as of Saturday morning.

The result makes Spearville 13-2 overall, and Kinsley 9-6 overall.
