The Dodge City Red Demons finished ninth in their home invitational Thursday, finishing with a team score of 361 at Mariah Hills Golf Course.
The top three teams in the event were Andover Central, which scored a 313; Kapaun Mt. Carmel, which scored a 323; and Garden City, which scored a 331. There were 16 teams in the invitational.
Fellow Western Athletic Conference teams Hays and Great Bend finished seventh and 13th, respectively, and Liberal finished last with a 423.
Davan Smith led the Red Demons individually, shooting an 84. Behind him came Cooper Scheck, who shot an 89; Tryston Lomas and Kale Lowery, who each shot 94; Ethan Goertzen, who shot a 95; and Stone Wilson, who shot a 107.
The low-scorer of the day was Topeka West’s Gavin Berberich, who shot an even-par 71 on the day. Topeka West finished eighth as a team.
The Red Demons are next in action Monday, when they head to Topeka Country Club for a tournament scheduled to start at 1 p.m., according to the Western Athletic Conference website.
