Two flown to hospital after Hwy. 278 wreck
Two people were airlifted to the hospital after a weekend wreck.
The single-vehicle collision involving a 2020 Dodge Ram occurred at 10:16 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6 on U.S. 278 near Seven Pines Road in Barnwell County.
"The vehicle struck a sign and went off of the road," said Lance Cpl. Tyler Tidwell with the S.C. Highway Patrol (SCHP).
Firefighters from District 12 (Long Branch) and District 7 (Williston) responded to the scene where they extricated both occupants from the vehicle. The Elko Fire Department set up the landing zone so both occupants could be airlifted to Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, Ga., said Williston Fire Chief John Melton.
"A great team effort from all agencies involved," said Melton.
