American Legion Post 47 Commander Chris Self recently presented a $500 check to Friendship Feast kitchen manager Sarah Speakman. Friendship Feast furnishes cooked meals each weekday, Monday through Friday. Volunteers serve meals from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 803 Central Ave. in Dodge City.
“Friendship Feast is pleased to accept American Legion’s donation,” Speakman said. “It’s generous contributions like this that allow us to serve veterans and others in the Dodge City community.”
Self added, “Post 47 appreciates that Friendship Feast provides meals to veterans and others. The American Legion was founded in 1919 on four pillars: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, National Security, Americanism, and Children & Youth. This contribution is made in support of the Legion’s pillars and goals.”
