Surveying to begin on U.S. 50 projects in Finney, Gray counties

Surveying is expected to begin in December on four proposed U.S. 50 expansion projects in Finney and Gray counties. If approved for construction, these projects would expand U.S. 50 from a two-lane highway to a four-lane expressway from Cimarron to Garden City. These projects were among some of the highest rated projects at the southwest Local consult meeting and would complete the four-lane expressway from Dodge City to Garden City.

The projects are part of the 40 expansion and modernization projects in the Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program (IKE) development pipeline announced in May 2020. Preliminary engineering work — design and additional advance work — is underway on more than half of the projects. No commitment to construction has yet been made.
