Vaccine for COVID-19 arrives in Kansas, stirs debate

Topeka Capital-Journal

Here is a sampling of social media comments about stories from across the state:

Hutchinson Facebook: First COVID-19 vaccines reach Reno County

Cheryl Ratzlaff: Follow the Science

Mitchell Stahl (Cheryl Ratzlaff): more like follow the money

Loren Seeney: Y'all are stupid if this vaccinations don't work and all the health care worker are down it'll be y'alls faults for being stupid

Bunny Pierson Dellinger: Yay!! The first vaccines are being given to our most vulnerable...Perfect end to a challenging year!

Laurie Pivonka: No wonder Reno co had a 50% positive rate. Too many people like the commenters

Brandon Lobdell: Either vaccine or my job. Well peace out it’s my right to refuse plus it wasn’t in my employee paperwork I signed

Brian KJ: Now we sit and wait, see what happens next.. You can have my shot, I do not intend of taking it!!

Randy Fry: The Leftwing Media have treated the Vaccine, exactly the same way as if we just sent a Helicopter to Jupiter, and found out that Jupiter was inhabited by Unicorns

Dodge City Daily Globe Facebook: Mayor resigns being threatened for mask stance

Angela Hall Everhart: So I lived in dodge city for years and now live in Colorado. We’ve been under a mask mandate for months. We are so used to it you don’t even think twice about it. Truly a sad day in dodge city....

Jill Chester: Joyce is/was one of the true good things in this town! She has made more amazing contributions to this community than any of these haters can even begin to imagine!

Paul J. Laure: I can't wait until the Trump cultist bullies go back under the rocks from whence they came, and we can have some RESPECTABLE, COURTEOUS, and INSPIRING Republican candidates again!

Shawna Culver: People in this community should be ashamed of themselves....what is wrong with us? We are better than this. Shame on this community

Nabeela Jeanne Black Swartz: Gives new meaning to Get Out Of Dodge. Where's Matt Dillon & Wyatt Earp when ya need em?

Topeka Capital-Journal Facebook: Health officer quits early after commissioners amend order

Les Hanshaw: Health officers should no more dictate county business than accountants should be CEO's. It's insane to obsessively focus on one health measure to the detriment of all other measures.

Bill Barnes: The same thing that continues to happen whether Pezzino is on the payroll or not. Schools and bars, restaurants and churches will be restricted even tho they maintain the safest protocols and have zero clusters while Dillons, Walmart, target etc can operate with impunity.

Glenda Massey (Bill Barnes): There is not as much close contact in the grocery stores that there is in bars. And masks are worn in the stores.

Jim Harvey: What Pezzino needs to remember is that he was a hired employee of the county, he can advise the council but the final decision isn't up to him. If he wants to be one of the people actually setting policy, he can run for a council seat.

Melissa Miller DeDonder (Jim Harvey): What the council needs to remember is that they are not medical doctors, nor do they have any equivalent experience even closely resembling preparing for a global health crisis. And they are going to have a hell of a time finding a replacement, but do go on...

Ottawa Herald Facebook: U.S. Supreme Court won't take up proof-of-citizenship case

Carl Gardner: Which is absolutely ludicrous. They are encouraging obvious voter fraud which is of course what they will use to control the vote. Power and Corruption run amok.

Larry Everhart (Carl Gardner): I thought Republicans were for less government rules

Sandi Shade Simmons: Kobach had a legacy?? Trump would not even hire him. That’s bad!!

Mary Thomas: I never did understand what the big problem was with making a driver's license as a requirement. You have to have one for so many things.

John McClaran: That is what Republicans do best, OBSTRUCT.
