If you (like some of us, I won't name names . . . OK, it was me) spent most of last week driving around to various Popeyes locations in an effort to try the massively viral chicken sandwich, you might be out of luck.
According to the restaurant chain's Twitter, they're sold out of the sandwich. A representative told Thrillist they're expecting to be entirely sold out by the end of the week, and that they'll be "working tirelessly" to bring the sandwich back to customers soon. The representative told the publication Popeyes hadn't anticipated such high demand for the sandwich, so its restaurants "sold through that inventory."We tried the Popeyes chicken sandwich so you don't have to
You may ask: What kind of inventory is necessary for a chicken sandwich? The chain didn't say what exactly they'd sold out of. When I went to my local Popeyes in Austin, I was told they were out of buns. *Shrug*
Y’all. We love that you love The Sandwich. Unfortunately we’re sold out (for now).pic.twitter.com/Askp7aH5Rr— Popeyes Chicken (@PopeyesChicken)August 27, 2019
