Hopefully last week’s loss to Garden City can serve as a wakeup call to the Red Demons boys wrestling team. Its latest matchup was a good indication of getting back on the right track. The Red Demons came out firing against a much improved Hays team then years prior.
TOPEKA — Gov. Laura Kelly told members of education advisory group Friday that the state’s healthy financial situation made this year’s budget process “particularly fun.” Faced with a projected $2.9 billion surplus, the governor was able to include nearly all of the recommendations made by educators in the proposed budget she delivered to the Legislature on Wednesday.
After getting back to action for the first time in a month on Thursday the Dodge City women’s basketball team took the floor on Goff-Burke Family court at home for the first time since December 8th as they hosted Barton.
Chalk up another W as the Dodge City men’s basketball team continued to play well on Saturday as they earned a 94-77 win over Barton. The win moves the Conquistadors to 16-2 on the season and 11-1 in KJCCC action, while the win marks the 30th for Head Coach, Jake Williams at Dodge City.
The Dodge City Red Demons boys wrestling continue to improve since losing a dual to Garden City a couple weeks ago. “We needed a wakeup call and I think Garden City did that for us,” coach Tate Lowe said.
The Red Demons boys basketball team improved to 10-0 overall, 1-0 in WAC play with a 70-32 victory over Liberal. Dodge City was led by Cooper Scheck with his career-high 32 points.
Heartbreak for the Dodge City Lady Demons as they lost 49-47 to Liberal recently. The Lady Demons fall to 8-2 over all, 0-1 in WAC play.
The Dodge City Lady Demons wrestling went to Hays and took care of business. The Lady Demons l have not wrestled an event with the full varsity line-up but show they can rise to the challenge.
The Dodge City girls wrestling team keeps rolling. The Lady Demons improved to 2-0 in WAC with a 47-6 victory over the Hays Indians. The lone loss came at 109 pounds with No. 1 ranked Sarah Zimmerman (Hays) securing a fall over No. 4 ranked Ashley Alonso (DC).
As we turn the page into 2022, I want to take the opportunity to reflect a little and look forward to the year ahead of us. The last couple years have been interesting, challenging, and some that we hopefully learned something from, whether it’s to be kinder, wash our hands more, or simply discover new things while we stayed at home.
