Highway 54 in Ford County was temporarily shut down on Saturday, March 12 around 3:30 p.m. around mile marker 78, 8.5 miles west of Highway 54 and the Kansas Highway 34 Junction, due to a two-vehicle fatality crash.

The Bucklin Red Aces made a statement in the opening round of the State Tournament Wednesday night. The Red Aces topped Caldwell, 67-45. It was a close game in the first quarter as the Red Aces led 14-12 but Caldwell was unable to stop their opponent as Bucklin added 16 points to finish the first half of play up 30-23. In the second half of play Bucklin outscored Caldwell 37-22 to secure the victory. Bucklin was able to control all aspects of the game from scoring 38 points in the paint to scoring 32 points off turnovers.

Boot Hill Distillery had such success lifting the spirits of thirsty people during COVID-19 quarantine that it needs more space to supply a spillover in demand for its “seed-to-sip” spirits. The seeds come from Kelman Farms in Sublette and the sips are distilled and served in the historic building at 501 W.

The Dodge City women’s basketball team put together their winningest season since the 2005-06 season finishing 19-13 and earning their first postseason win since 2013-14 while hosting a playoff game for the first time since 2004-05 season.

Dodge City softball team got back in the win column on Tuesday as they made up a game at home against Northwest Kansas Tech picking up a 10-0 win in five innings. The Conquistadors with the win moved to 8-10 on the season and 4-2 in KJCCC play.
The Dodge City Lady Demons capped their exceptional season with a 66-43 loss to Washburn Rural in the opening round of the Class 6A state tournament in Wichita. Washburn Rural went on an 8-2 run at the start of the game and jumped to a 16-10 first-quarter lead over the Lady Demons.
