TOPEKA — Some state lawmakers want to beef up child abuse investigations — by demanding more thorough physical examinations of potential victims. State law already requires that investigators see any child in person who’s the subject of an abuse report.

Lead For Kansas and the national nonprofit Lead For America announced its 2022 Fellowship application for Kansas on March 10. Selected Fellows will address Kansas’ most pressing challenges at the local level and join a national cohort of other leaders committed to supporting the communities they call home. The Fellowship application closes on April 15.
Residents of the Kansas prairie asked legislators Wednesday to restore the night sky they say is dominated by red blinking lights from industrial wind turbines. “One of the greatest things about living in rural Kansas is being able to enjoy the night sky, the moon and the stars … the red blinking lights have taken that away from us,” said Shenan Cline, a Marshall County resident.
Coming fight on abortion It appears that the US Supreme Court may overturn Roe V Wade. When that happens, each state will be able to make the decision on whether or not they will allow abortion.
The challenge has been laid down. The upcoming “Giving of the Green” Matching Funds Challenge will be coming this St. Patrick’s Day on March as the Depot Theater in Dodge City announced that the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas will match 50 cents on the dollar for donations made to the Depot Theater, Inc. Endowment Fund.
First Baptist Church in Dodge City was founded in 1885 and was originally located at Cedar Street and Sixth Avenue (east of Lincoln School). That building was later moved to Second Avenue and Spruce Street.
For the green thumbs in the community, The Sunflower Community Garden in Dodge City has plots available. According to community garden president Daniel Tague, Sunflower Community Gardens are located at a couple locations in Dodge City.
