Last Friday the Lady Demons took part in a swimming meet in Salina. The Lady Demons took home a 5th place finish against some tough competition. The Lady Demons brought home some medals with a 2nd place finish in the 500 freestyle by Ashlyn Armstrong. The Lady Demons took home a 2nd place in the 400 free relay by the team of Eva Friess, Ashlyn Armstrong, Paige Mink and Faith Wodziak.

Tuesday’s game against Little River was a heartbreaker for the Lancers, as they lost the lead late in a 9-6 defeat in game one and lost 17-2 in game two. In the first game, Little River trailed 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Dalton Mantz doubled on the first pitch at bat, scoring two runs.

Over a decade ago I started my life over with my two young boys. Shortly after my aunt died, then my youngest son was born with a heart defect, unknown to us at the time. He had open heart surgery at 7 months old. Then I started college. My great grandma then died followed by the death of my dad within the year after.
Still a little hobbled and unsteady on my feet from recent knee surgery, here I sit at the computer, listening to the spring wind howl outside and reminiscing about past turkey hunts. These memories are probably as close as I’ll get to harvesting a turkey this spring, but memories of one particular fall turkey hunt keep popping into my mental in-box.
