Dodge City baseball team wrapped up the 2022 season on the road in the first round of the Region VI Tournament falling 14-7 and 7-6 in the series with Johnson County. The Conquistadors cap the season 28-27 overall marking the most since the 2018 season and recorded the most Jayhawk Conference wins, 15 since 2018, also.
Hilmar Cheese Company continues to move forward on the new state-of-the-art cheese and whey production facility in Dodge City scheduled to break ground later this year. Between eight and 12 new dairies will be built within a 50-mile radius of Dodge City, while some existing dairies, like High Plains Ponderosa Dairy in Meade County, have already signed contracts with the company to expand its operations.
The Dodge City golf team finished 2nd at the Liberal invitational May 10 when the Demons shot their best team score of the season. They were led by Aidan Robinson and Cooper Scheck who shot 74’s, tying for 5th place individually.
Competing at nationals for the 32nd straight year, the Dodge City men’s golf program put together a top 10 finish as a team claimed tenth place. It marked the fifth time under head coach Chris Robinson a Conquistador men’s golf team has finished in the top 10.
For the second straight year, the Dodge City women’s golf team recorded a top 10 finish at nationals as they placed seventh at the NJCAA Division I National Championships at Mayfair Country Club in Sanford, Fla.
The Red Demons improved to 8-12 after wrapping up a series sweep of Liberal defeating them 4-3 May 12. The Red Demons took the game in dramatic fashion, with a 4-3 walk-off victory over Liberal.
The Lady Demons stole the lead late and defeated Liberal 10-6 in the first game May 12. The game was tied at five with Lady Demons batting in the top of the fifth when Brittany Lomas singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
In the first game of the night May 12 the Lady Aces took home a 6-4 victory over Larned. The Lady Aces fired up the offense in the first inning.
