American Eagle Day

Legislature sends governor tax bill with $50 million for small businesses hurt by COVID-19

TOPEKA — The Legislature by a nearly unanimous margin voted Monday to send tax-reform legislation to Gov. Laura Kelly but not before a Senate Republican supporting the bill insisted the governor receive no credit for earmarking $50 million to reimburse small businesses that suffered in early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

DODGE CITY- John Lewis Chambers, 59, died Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at his home in Dodge City, Kansas. He was born on March 4, 1963 at Dodge City, Kansas the son of Ben and Mary (McGuire) Chambers.

Dodge City Education Center graduates 24

Students from the Dodge City Education Center were handed their diplomas on Sunday, May 22 at the Dodge City High School auditorium. According to Pam Gleason with the Dodge City Education Center, 14 of the 24 graduates received their diplomas from Dodge City USD 443 superintendent Fred Dierksen and Dodge City High School principal Martha Mendoza.
