The 2022 Wheat Quality Council’s Hard Winter Wheat Tour across Kansas wrapped up on May 19. During the three days of wheat scouting, tour participants traveled six routes from Manhattan to Colby to Wichita and back to Manhattan. This year’s tour hosted people from 24 U.S. states plus Mexico and Canada in 20 vehicles while traveling across the state.
On Wednesday, 83 people on the Wheat Quality Council’s 2022 winter wheat tour made their way from Colby to Wichita, Kansas, stopping in wheat fields along six different routes. Wednesday’s wheat tour scouts made 254 stops at wheat fields across western, central and southern Kansas, and into northern counties in Oklahoma.
About 83 people from 24 U.S. states plus Mexico and Canada, traveled in 20 cars on six routes between Manhattan and Colby, Kan., Tuesday, stopping at wheat fields every 15-20 miles along the routes, as part of the Wheat Quality Council’s 64th Annual Hard Winter Wheat Evaluation Tour.
The Ford County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program hosted a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Volunteer Training from 2-3 p.m., on Friday, May 20, in the Dodge City Community College Library. The session, which was led by Dr. Gregory Roberts (left), DC3 Director of TRIO Support Services/ Talent Search, and Eric Mercer (right), DCCC Title V Workforce Development Activity Director, was designed to allow learners to gain insights into the perspectives and realities of individuals with identities that are different from their own, and to learn how others can experience the same workplace in very different ways. Confusion surrounding current events about student loan forgiveness (or anything else financial) always creates a fertile environment for scammers hoping to rip off those that are uninformed. The President has continued the pause on student loan payments until August 31 of this year. Some are advocating for more student loan forgiveness as well. WASHINGTON – The U. S Department of Agriculture today announced that commodity and specialty crop producers impacted by natural disaster events in 2020 and 2021 will soon begin receiving emergency relief payments totaling approximately $6 billion through the Farm Service Agency’s new Emergency Relief Program to offset crop yield and value losses.
