William David Whitis, known to many as Bill, passed away September 26, 2022, while enjoying the beautiful view of the Anthony Lake. He was born January 10, 1944 in Goodland, Kansas, son of Jack Warren and Phyllis Jean (Abernathy) Whitis. He proudly served in the United States Army. He began working for Dillon’s as a grocery sacker and remained with the company for 42 years, during which he worked his way up to store manager, before retiring. Bill was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Jeri; and granddaughter, Tori. He will be deeply missed by his son, Kendall Jackson and wife, Gloria of Dodge City; granddaughter, Taylor Dye and husband, Tyler and their children, Payton, Brooklyn, and Owen, all of Cimarron, KS; grandson Tyler Jackson of Manhattan, KS; other relatives and many friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 30, 2022 at Prairie Rose Funeral Home in Anthony. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials in memory of Bill may be made to the Anthony Public Library and can be sent in care of Prairie Rose Funeral Home, 602 E.
