Kansas State Fair Market Wheat Show Winners

Hutchinson – The Grand Champion winner of the Kansas State Fair Market Wheat Show, Galen Lowe from Sumner County, got a chance to shake the Governor’s hand and receive a gold watch at the award’s ceremony held on Sept. 14, in the Domestic Arts Building on the Kansas State Fairgrounds. Also receiving the County Agent award was newcomer Rhett Newby from Pratt County.

Kansas water photo contest, student research poster submissions

Kansas is home to an abundance of beautiful natural resources, and Kansans are encouraged to capture the most vital of these: water. The Kansas Water Office (KWO) is accepting photos to be featured in conjunction with the 2022 Governor’s Conference on the Future of Water in Kansas in November. The photos need to pertain to water or water use in Kansas. Examples include all bodies of water, irrigation, agriculture, recreation and fun, or other water infrastructure.

Just over a year ago, I accepted an administrative position with The Salvation Army here in Dodge City. I’d grown up knowing about donating clothes and red kettle donations at Christmas time, but what did I really know about this organization? My husband was quick to mention founder William Booth and Phil Keaggy’s song, “Salvation Army Band” which mentions, “Heart to God and a hand to man,” which I’d never heard before.
