The holidays are here. It’s time for food and family and unfortunately stress. For some, holidays aren’t as enjoyable as they are for others. I used to love the holiday season, and I still do, but it takes a little longer for me to get into the spirit.
The Ford County Humane Society’s annual Santa Paws Christmas fundraiser starts Nov. 26 at Village Square Mall in Dodge City.
On Sunday, Nov. 13, the Dodge City Community College baseball team once again partnered with the Ford County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program to conduct a large-scale fall cleanup for the elderly in the Dodge City area. More than 30 players, and Coach Brett Doe, Head Baseball Coach, Assistant Baseball Coach Eli Egger participated in the Fall Clean-Up Day program, which began in 2005.
The Selena tribute band “Los Chicos del 512” was bound to perform “The Selena Experience,” Friday night at United Wireless Arena when its bus hit a deadly patch of black ice on a New Mexico highway southwest of Dodge City.
Early Dodge City residents were into physical humor, and it didn’t take a special occasion like April Fool’s Day to bring this playfulness out. The people of Dodge had a fictitious person on which they could blame all sorts of mayhem.
Paula Sellens from Dodge City accepted a $2,500 grant from the Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas (CFSK). The foundation made its annual distributions on Nov. 10. It receives and manages contributions from individuals, families, businesses, and other foundations. The income from this capital is granted to organizations that serve the best interests of Southwest Kansas residents.
Five members of the Dodge City High School boys soccer team received All-State honors from the Kansas High School Soccer Coaches Association Friday Nov. 18.
