City to host streetscape groundbreaking

The City of Dodge City will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the Dodge City Streetscape Project on Thursday, Dec. 8, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the corner of 2nd Ave. and Front St. (north of the “El Capitan” statue). This event serves as an opportunity to share the vision for this downtown streetscape and celebrate the kickoff of this long awaited project.

Purple with Purpose: DC3 announces fundraising campaign

In the past two years, Dodge City Community College (DC3) has made numerous improvements to its critical structures across campus such as new sidewalks, mezzanines, sound systems, directional signage, interior building renovations, and landscaping. And now the college is setting a new goal through its new Purple with Purpose fundraising campaign to create a new weight room for its student-athletes.

Controlling volunteer trees

Though trees are a vital part of our landscapes, there are situations where volunteer trees need to be controlled. This is often a case of the wrong plant in the wrong place. If the tree is still small and a desirable species, you may want to consider transplanting in the spring. If it is not, active control measures would be in order.

A young lady from the Sunnyside Elementary School student council introduced herself to the Dodge City Globe with a handshake, then ushered this reporter into a classroom in which Kansas State Department of Education Commissioner Randy Watson “was happy to share really great information” with the Dodge City USD 443 Board of Education.
