Dodge City Community College (DC3) is pleased to announce the fall 2022 President’s and Vice President’s Honor Rolls. President’s Honor Roll Students selected for the President’s Honor Roll must maintain a semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.8 or above on a 4.0-scale and must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester.
Free Developmental Screening Planned Arrowhead West Infant-Toddler Services will be hosting a free screening clinic for children from birth to 3 years of age in Dodge City to help parents determine if their child’s development is age appropriate. The screening is planned for Friday, Jan. 20 at the Church of the Nazarene, 1700 W Ross Blvd. Appointments are necessary so appropriate screening can be accomplished. Areas to be screened include hearing, cognitive, motor, self-help, language, vision, social and emotional. The staff will assist in the identification of any special needs your child may have and in locating services to meet those needs. 2022 – Oh what a year! 2022 was a productive and promising year for Alzheimer’s research, including discoveries related to the causes, risk factors and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Here are 5 important things we learned about Alzheimer’s in 2022: • Alzheimer’s treatments are getting better In November, pharmaceutical companies Eisai and Biogen announced positive results from their global Phase 3 clinical trial of an Alzheimer’s drug called lecanemab, slowing the rate of cognitive decline in study participants by 28% over 18 months.
Dodge City men’s basketball overcame plenty of adversity and sluggish offense on the road in KJCCC action to claim an 89-85 double overtime win over Independence. The Conquistadors who trailed nearly all of regulation improved to 12-3 overall and 8-1 in KJCCC action with the win.
Craving the Boot Hill Special or chops smothered in love? What about chicken fried steak served by a wonderful woman who knows your name? The Stockyard Café at Winter Livestock, which has been in operation for 87 years on Trail Street in Dodge City, snapped up a crowd of crowd pleasers led by Maria and her mother Maria Lazcano, her son Andy and the always helpful Petra, Celia and Marlin. The grand opening will be Monday, Jan.

The Kansas Bandits will be back at home Jan. 7 after an impressive effort in Wichita in late December, where they fell by just 7-6, a marked improvement over their first-ever game at United Wireless Arena, when they fell to the New Mexico Runners 7-1. Against Wichita, Diego Olivares had a pair of goals.
Judy O passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2022, in Durango, Colorado at Mercy Hospice House after a short illness. She was 88 years old, born February 4th, 1934, in Wichita Kansas to Melva (Cheatum) and Sam Gardner. She grew up in Midway Kansas, working in the family’s restaurant, service station and rental cabin businesses. At a very young age, Judy was waiting tables and running the cash
