DANIEL RICHARD WOODWORTH

Daniel Richard Woodworth, age 86 years, passed away on January 19, 2023, at Good Samaritan Society of Hutchinson, KS. He was born June 11, 1936, in Satanta, KS, to Norval Winston and Vida Yvonne (Baty) Woodworth. Richard lived most of his life in Dodge City, KS and was a graduate of Dodge City Senior High School, Dodge City Community College and Fort Hays State University. On August 19, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Patsy E. Rowton. Richard and Patsy began their teaching careers in Jetmore and Holyrood, KS before settling in Dodge City. Richard taught civics and coached at the middle school and high school levels until his retirement. His family was his true passion and he was never happier than when he could share his hobbies (boating, fishing, hunting and golfing) with them. Richard was raised in the Methodist faith and never veered from that foundation of love and faith and commitment to justice and equality for all. He was a kind and generous man with a big heart. Richard is survived by his children and their families: Pam (Charles) Pierce, Hutchinson, KS (Sarah and Kevin Reade and children William, Elizabeth, and Jackson; Andrew Pierce and Adrianne Ghio); Jeff (Denise) Woodworth, Ellis, KS (Erin and Charlie Bauer and children Cassidy, Caden and Stormie and son CJ, Cinzly, Conrad, and Cally; Tara and Brevin Labarge and children Grayson, Wyatt and Parker; Toby and fiancé, Delany; Karen (Mario) Garcia, Lacrosse, KS (Joey and Bailey Garcia and sons Everson and Max; Jeremy and Gaby Garcia and son Harrison; Jack Garcia and fiancé Tylor; Emma Garcia and daughter Halle), Kathy (Bill) Keeley, Lacrosse, KS (Mitchell and Kylie Keeley and daughter Lainey; Olivia Rice and children Brady and Rosalynn; Kip and Tessa Keeley). He also leaves behind his sisters, Sharon Woodworth and Geri Hill; sister-in-law, Ellen Rowton; as well as his beloved extended family of nieces nephews and dear friends. Healthcare and Social Services Day

Dodge City Community College (DC3) hosted Healthcare and Social Services Day on Wednesday, Jan. 25, in the Student Activity Center. At the event, nearly 60 area high school students had the opportunity to speak with seven different vendors from the healthcare field. After these round-table discussions, five seniors were awarded $500 scholarships to attend DC3 next fall.

January 21, 2023 Dear Friends … Week 2 of the 2023 Legislature was still rather quiet, as bills began being introduced and referred to committees for the scheduling of hearings. No substantive matters on the floor for general orders yet, but we did approve 16 gubernatorial nominations and appointments -- one a Court of Appeals Judge -- that had been placed on the Senate Calendar.
