The Dodge City girls wrestling team competed at the KSHSAA 6A/5A girls state championships this past week at Hartman Arena and for the second year in a row were able to bring home hardware. The team had been ranked #1 all season long but as the last matches were wrestled at the state tournament, the team was not able to hold on to that ranking.
The Dodge City High School boys wrestling team took 11 individuals to the state tournament and 10 were able to walk away having won at least one match during the event. Nine of the 11 were first time qualifiers for the Red Demons. The team was able to secure a top 10 finish led by Kaden Garvalena in 5th place, Alan Flores in 4th place and Luke Barker becoming a three-time state champion.
All are welcome to join the fun at the 15th annual Mennonite Central Committee Comforter Blitz on March 6, 7 and 8 at Journey Mennonite Church at the Yoder Campus, one mile north of Yoder, Kansas. Blitz times are Monday and Tuesday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and Wednesday, 9:00am to 4:00pm.

After a several weeks of disappointing losses, the Red Demons took the court Feb. 23 in their season finale against Liberal.
The Lady Demons picked up 35-32 win and a piece of the WAC title Feb. 23 in Liberal thanks to the heroics of Becca Unruh in the final seconds of the game, when she drained a 3-pointer to upset the Liberal Redskins again.

DODGE CITY, KANSAS - Lorene Julia Herron, age 84, of Dodge City took the Lord’s hand on February 23, 2023 walking out of her tired crippled body and into the gates of Heaven. Lorene was born July 21, 1938 in Pueblo Colorado to William and Francine Salem (Shoe), becoming the second oldest of their ten children.
