Shining a light on solar energy

NASA was an early adopter of solar technology, harnessing the sun’s energy to power spacecraft. The Vanguard 1, launched in 1958, used solar panels as a secondary power source. Today, the International Space Station’s solar array wings contain 262,400 solar cells. Solar energy is a must when you are almost 250 miles above any gas stations or electric outlets!

Wheat Tour 2023 – Day 2

Kansas hospitals applaud new health care worker protections legislation passed, now signed into law

New laws will provide additional protections for Kansas health care workers who are facing continued threats in the course of their work. Nearly half of Kansas hospital staff members surveyed in recent years said patients, visitors or others commit acts of workplace violence at least one to three times a year.

Honorarium

May 23 more than eighty-five individuals stopped by the Depot’s El Vaquero room to honor and remember the lives of four pillars of our community who paved the way for many others. Three educators, Maureen Jones, Mary Lou Doris, Ethel Peterson, and attorney Larry Daniels were honored in memoriam.

Boot Hill Museum unveils expanded, upgraded and personal Mexican Village exhibit

For someone who never stepped foot in the Mexican Village when it existed in Dodge City from 1906 to 1956 Boot Hill Museum succeeded in its world-building efforts. Boot Hill Museum Curator Keith Wondra and Curator of Exhibits and Interpretation Karen Pankratz, together with muralist Dave Wetmore, have taken an existing exhibit the size of a curio cabinet to the next level.
