Topeka upsets the Storm
The Topeka Tropics picked up its first win of the season against the Storm May 20 in Topeka. It was a close first half but the Storm just couldn’t break through in a 43-28 loss to the Tropics.

DCCC:Trio of Conquistadors compete at NJCAA DI Outdoor Track and Field National Championships
Dodge City track and field wrapped up the outdoor season with three athletes competing at the NJCAA Division I Outdoor National Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico. Leading the charge for the Conquistadors was the performance of Denise Dominguez who closed out her Dodge City career by earning a spot on the podium in the 10,000-meter run posting a time of 40:19.74 to place seventh in the event.

It was a banner year for the Dodge City High School’s United States Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps. With more than 100 members in only its second year of existence, it was awarded the Distinguished Unit Award for the school year 20222023 because it achieved or exceeded all its goals and averaged more than 17 hours of community service per cadet.

In 1955, Dodge City became one of three finalists for the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Museum. The other two finalists were Colorado Springs, Colorado and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Unfortunately for the supporters of Dodge City the National Cowboy Hall of Fame and Museum went to Oklahoma City (it is now the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum).
