Men’s soccer opens KJCCC play beating #5 Barton at home

Jayhawk Conference play opened with a bang for the Dodge City men’s soccer team as they bounced back from a season-opening loss with a win over #5 Barton at home 3-2.The Conquistadors with the win move to 1-1 on the season and snap a three-game losing streak in the series against Barton claiming the first win under the guidance of Head Coach, Juan Espinal.The Conqs would see Barton fire off a few opportunities early but then Soma Kanazawa saw an opening and from midfield launched a shot that flew over the Cougars goalkeeper and went in from 60 yards to give the Conqs the lead in the 16th minute.

19 Wildcats set for 2024 NFL season

With the 2024 NFL season kicking off one week from today, 19 former Kansas State players have been placed on active rosters, practice squads or injured reserve lists as the 32 organizations set their initial rosters for the season earlier this week.The 19 former Wildcats on opening-weekend NFL rosters are the most since they also had 19 to open the 2009 season.

Kansas Supreme Court closes valve in protracted dispute on illegal hog-effluent pipeline

TOPEKA — Northwest Kansas hog farmer Terry Nelson’s campaign to convince the judicial system he had a legal right to install a livestock sewage pipeline along a public road in the right-of-way on neighbors’ property without government or landowner permission has come to an end in state courts.The Kansas Supreme Court, in a unanimous opinion, affirmed previous decisions of the Kansas Court of Appeals and the Phillips County District Court that Nelson engaged in trespass in 2017 by building an unauthorized pipeline on property owned by neighbors Rodney Ross and Laura Field.

Dodge City skater-turned-bodybuilder Friess on the road to pro

Dodge City native bodybuilder Eric Friess won the Colorado Cup Men’s Physique Overall Champion 2024 title this August and will next compete in the National Physique Committee (NPC) championships in December where he hopes to win his pro-card.A pro-card is awarded by the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Professional League, the top level of professional bodybuilding, he said.After an award-winning 2022, during which he competed in six bodybuilding shows regionally and nationally, the Anytime Fitness enthusiast took time off to “reset my mind and body and enjoy time with friends and family.
