Dodge City native finalist for attorney of the year

HAYS — The Schwartz-Park Law Firm has announced that Carol Marie Park is a finalist for the attorney of the year.She was born in Dodge City, Kan., started school in McCook, Neb., and from third grade was in the Chapman, Kan., School system, graduating from high school in 1999.Three years later she graduated from the University of Nebraska, then got married to Wade Park, from Wilsonville, Neb.

Stephenson honored through naming enhancement at Eck Stadium

The Kansas Board of Regents approved a request from Wichita State to enhance the name of the on-campus baseball stadium to Eck Stadium, Home of Tyler Field at Gene Stephenson Park.The stadium name was enhanced to honor Hall of Fame coach Gene Stephenson who was the head coach at Wichita State from 1978-2013.“We are grateful to the Kansas Board of Regents for their support of this important honor,” said Wichita State Director of Athletics Kevin Saal.

Community Foundation gives $30K to help kids Learn, Grow and Thrive at the YMCA before and after-school program

The Community Foundation of Southwest Kansas recently presented a gift to the Dodge City Family YMCA for its before and after-school programs.Dodge City Family YMCA’s After School Program started in 2013, and continues to be a great partnership between USD 443 and the YMCA.“The need for affordable childcare is a problem across the nation, and with the support from the Community Foundation and other local donors we are able to provide an affordable after-school program for the youth in our community.”Currently, the after-school program has sites at the YMCA, Northwest, Soule, Ross, Miller, Beeson and Linn Elementary.
