NCAA set to abandon NIL recruiting ban following lawsuit settlement

In a landmark shift for college athletics, the NCAA has agreed to abandon its rule prohibiting athletes from negotiating name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals before enrolling at a specific college. The decision comes as part of a settlement in a lawsuit led by Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti and a coalition of attorneys general who argued the restriction violated antitrust laws.
