MULLIVILLE – Don Liggett, 86, died Thursday, December 23, 2021 at his home in Mulliville.
He was born January 7, 1935 on the family farm north of Mullinville in Kiowa County, the son of Roy and Emma (Stauth) Liggett. He was a rancher most of his life and also worked many years as the Head Custodian for the Mullinville School District and retired as the caretaker for Hillcrest Cemetery in Mullinville after 13 years. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting and working on guns.
On April 16, 1955 he married Wilma Craft in Bucklin. She preceded him in death on November 13, 2018.
Survivors include: a son, Derry Liggett, Mullinville; a daughter, Kendra Breeden, Dodge City; a brother, Dale Liggett, Bucklin; 3 grandchildren, Angela Myers and husband Garrett, Ponca City, Oklahoma, Dena Deneke and husband Evan, Marion, Kansas and Blaine Liggett and wife Kate, Haviland; and a great grandson, Ryan Liggett, Haviland.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Marty Liggett and his siblings, Wayne Liggett, Clarence Liggett, Velma Jantz and Delbert Liggett.
Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Mullinville, with Chad Kishpaugh officiating. There will be no public viewing, cremation has taken place.
