U.S. Army Sgt. Jose Garcia staged a surprise military homecoming for his children at a special assembly on Monday, April 19, at Dodge City’s Northwest Elementary School. Garcia, who just returned home from a nine-month deployment to Kuwait and Iraq, dressed as the Dodge City Community College Conquistador mascot to conceal his identity. In order to surprise both of his children at the same time, his daughter, Karina Garcia, a Northwest Elementary 3rd grader, was told that her older brother, Adan Garcia, a Dodge City High School sophomore, was on hand to present her with a special award. / JUSTIN WILSON/DODGE CITY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
