JoAnn Nichols

JoAnn Nichols, 78, died Thursday, August 30, 2012 at the Bethel Home, Montezuma.

She was born November 21, 1933 at Scott City, Kansas, the daughter of Otto Lewis and Lucy Jane Holland Blakenship. She and her family moved to Hugo, Colorado in 1934 and in 1944 moved to Hooker, Oklahoma and to Dodge City in 1949.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and Win-a-couple Sunday School Class both in Dodge City, Home Culture Club, EHU and PEO all in Cimarron.

On June 15, 1951 she married Allen W. Nichols at Dodge City. He preceded her in death on June 4, 2006.

Survivors include: 3 sons, Allen R. and wife Debbie, Cimarron, Ron and companion Wanda, Ingalls and Kelly and wife Amy, Dodge City; a daughter, Nancy Schwartz and husband Bill, Amarillo, Texas; 4 sisters, Hazel Koehn, Collbron, Colorado, Bertha Unruh, Daisy Wasson and Mary Wilhelm all of Dodge City; 11 grandchildren, Heather Lacy, Otto Nichols, Tisha Schwartz, Katie Schwartz, Stacie Keller, Jesse Nichols, Jenna Nichols, Sara Nichols, Cody Nichols, Kayla Strickler and Jared Nichols; 3 great grandchildren, Allie Lacy, Ruby Lacy and Sarah Lacy.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Rupert Warden and Alva Warden and 2 sisters, Alma Byers and Rosa Baker.

Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the First Christian Church, Dodge City, with Mr. Phil Scott officiating. Burial will be in the Cimarron Cemetery, Cimarron.
