Irene Margaret Wade, 94, died August 29, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. She was born on June 2, 1918 at Spearville the daughter of Andrew Frederick and Ruth (Blecha) Schaffer.
On August 22, 1939 she married Dan Wade. He preceded her in death in March of 1986. After their marriage they farmed in Hodgeman County most of their adult lives.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Jetmore and Senior Friends of Dodge City.
Mrs. Wade is survived by three sons, Kenneth Wade and wife Marie of Fredericksburg, Texas, Clyde Wade and wife Lori of Dodge City and Dean Wade of Spearville; two daughters, Judy Holcomb and husband Bob of Aurora, Colorado and Bonnie Carson and husband Gene of Dodge City; three brothers, Earl, Harold, and Dan Schaffer all of rural Hodgeman County; one sister, Gertrude Koehn of Wellington; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Carl Schaffer; and infant sister, Mildred.
Funeral service will be held at Swaim Funeral Home in Dodge City on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:30 AM with Dr. Jerry Ketner presiding. Burial will follow at Silent Land Cemetery in Spearville. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Friday, August 31, 2012 from noon to 8:00 PM. Memorials are suggested to New Hope U.S.A/International in care of the funeral home.
