Jacob "Jake" Sorch, 80, died Sept. 3, 2012 at Western Plains Medical Complex, Dodge City. He was born April 11, 1932 in Sterling, Colo., the son of John and Maria (Lie) Sorch.
On June 17, 1983 he married Marietta Allison in Sterling, Colo. Jake worked for Scheberle's Jewelry Store repairing watches and clocks for 23 years. He later worked for Dale's Jewelry until he retired.
He was a member of the Grace Communtiy Church of Dodge City.
Jacob is survived by his wife, Marietta Sorch of Dodge City; two step-sons, Bill Brown and wife Sondra of Dodge City and Dave Brown and wife Kandy of Oklahoma City, Okla.; daughter-in-law, Robin Brown of Woodward, Okla.; one sister, Esther Kress of Colo. Numerous other relatives including step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death his parents, one brother, and nine sisters.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012 at Grace Communtiy Church with Pastor Kirk Larson presiding. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012 from noon to 8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Gideon's International or Grace Community Church both in care of the funeral home.
