TERRY GLEASON

Dodge City – Terrence James “Terry” Gleason, 81, died February 15, 2023 at Centura Penrose Hospital, Colorado Springs. He was born on February 14, 1942 at Dodge City, the son of Michael A. and Agnes C. (Lenahan) Gleason.

Terry grew up in Jetmore and graduated from St. Mary of the Plains High School in Dodge City. He then attended and graduated from the University of Notre Dame and later received his masters from Kansas State University. He married Margaret Weigel, they later divorced. On September 4, 1976 he married Jerry McFadden in Dodge City. Terry worked many years in sales and management before turning to a career of helping children in need at Youthville. He supervised and trained foster parents and finished his career as the Development Coordinator for Southwest Kansas. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and was a youth coach and Boy Scout leader for many years.

Terry is survived by his children, Dr. Tori Gleason of Olathe and Mickie Lara & John of Surprise, Arizona; four grandchildren, Jackson Lara, Alex Gleason, Anderson Gleason, and Desiree Thomas; two great grandchildren, Trysten and Kamberlynn; Two step-children Jackie Stiles and Ron Koehn; and a sister, Tommie Derr of Jacksonville, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Jerry Gleason, and brother, Michael Gleason.

Rosary will be held at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 9:30 AM with the Funeral Mass to follow at 10:00 AM. Burial will take place at Fairmount Cemetery in Jetmore after the funeral mass. Visitation will be at Swaim Funeral Chapel on Thursday February 23, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
