Jake Friesen, 102, from Meade, was the torch bearer at the Southwest Kansas Senior Olympics, sponsored by the District 6 Activity Directors of Skilled Care Facilities held at the Gray County 4-H building on Friday. Seniors participated in such events as spelling bee, basketball toss and bowling. Volunteers for the event included area-wide Hospice volunteers, the Cimarron PEO Chapter, the Southwest Kansas Long-term Care Ombudsmen and the honor students from the Cimarron senior high.
