ARVELLA SCHRINER

DODGE CITY – Arvella Schriner departed this life on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at the age of 94 at her daughter’s home in El Reno, Oklahoma, surrounded by family. She was born March 24, 1929 at Grinnell, the daughter of Anton G. and Amelia Sofia (Ladenberger) Baalmann. She grew up the family farm in Northwest Kansas with her 3 brothers and 5 sisters. She was a graduate of Grinnell High School. She was a faithful member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe and Daughters of Isabella, St. Rita Circle both of Dodge City, Kansas. She worked at St. Mary of the Plains College in food service for many years.

She was an active volunteer at the Senior Citizen Center, Dodge City. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. On October 24, 1948 she married Carl F. Schriner at Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 21, 2014. Survivors include: her son, Charles R. Schriner, Cheney, Kansas; 4 daughters, Charlene Schriner, Dodge City, Diana Grunder and husband Richard, Oldsmar, Florida, Patricia Adams, El Reno, Oklahoma and Karen Pitts and husband Vern, Roseville, California; 7 grandsons, Anthony Hamilton and wife Xy, Todd Hamilton, Master Gunnery Sgt. Travis Hamilton and wife Adrianne, Brian Schriner, Chad Grunder and wife Erica, Rich Adams and wife Krista and Caleb Pitts; 4 Granddaughters, Lana Winker and husband Brad, Hannah Pitts, Mandy Schnoeblen and Chelsea Adams; 13 Great Grandchildren, Brett, Axel, Sage, Dylan, Jacob, Christian, Brooke, Logan, Brody, Riley, Colton, Kylee and Lyla; 2 great great grandchildren, Lennon and Porter; Sister, Betty Vance; Brother-inlaw, Maurice Schriner and wife Beulah; Sisters-in-law, Idella Schriner and Janice Baalmann.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 4 sisters and a great granddaughter, Janeyah. Vigil service followed by Daughters of Isabella rosary will be at 7:00 pm Monday, May 1, 2023 both at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 am Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 901 Central Ave., Dodge City, with Fr. Wesley Schawe presiding. Burial will follow in Greencrest Memorial Gardens, Dodge City. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ziegler Funeral Chapel.
