Dodge City women’s basketball continued to etch their name in the history books of Conquistador athletics as they sunk the Pirate ship of Independence on Saturday earning a 64-55 win which captured them a share of the KJCCC championship title.
Dodge City softball wrapped up their second road trip to Texas with a doubleheader split against Western Texas dropping game one 11-2 in five innings but responding with a 9-5 win in game two. The split moves the Conquistadors to 3-5 on the season as they went 3-1 on the road trip.
Dodge City softball picked up their first wins of the season with a doubleheader sweep of Howard on the road in Texas picking up a 12-7 and 8-5 victory. The wins move the Conquistadors to 2-4 on the season and came with a strong offensive showing as the Conqs scored 20 runs on 23 hits.
Great Bend had a plan to stop the Lady Demons’ leading scorer Becca Unruh and limit the Red Demon inside powerhouse Easha Potts. However Great Bend didn’t expect Ashlyn Lembright to pick up the slack as the Lady Demons picked up a 43-32 victory on Thursday, Feb. 17. Lembright scored a career-high 19 points on the night. She was 7-for-14 from the floor and tied a career high with five made 3-pointers.
Dodge City track and field team competed at the Region VI Indoor Championships at Pittsburg State University over the weekend and put forth several strong performances led by a national qualifying mark.
