Boys soccer advances to Final Four 6A State tournament

As the Dodge City High School boys soccer team walked into Memorial Stadium Tuesday evening their goal was to return to the Final Four 6A state soccer playoffs. Thanks to an outstanding team effort the Red Demons advanced to the Class 6A Final Four tournament with a 4-0 victory over a very talented Lawrence Free State team.

DCCC: Men’s soccer ends season with tough road loss to Johnson County in playoffs

Dodge City men’s soccer hit the road for the first round of the Plains District playoffs and squared off with #18 Johnson County. The Conquistadors were looking to avenge an earlier season overtime loss to Johnson County but it was once again a penalty kick goal by the Cavaliers that was the difference in the match this time around also as Johnson County won 2-1.

Underdog Pyle intends to be Kansas’s next governor

State Senator Dennis Pyle from Hiawatha is running for Governor as an independent, having left the Republican Party in June to collect the necessary signatures for general election ballot qualification. Pyle believes voters need a choice and there is little difference between Republican Derek Schmidt and incumbent Democratic Governor Laura Kelly.

Home deed scam is on the increase, warns BBB

Your Better Business Bureau (BBB) has identified yet another new scam, aimed at those who may already be in financial straits. Scammers are not content to simply steal identities or access and drain bank accounts. Recently reports have increased of thieves who are out to take over your very home via a new kind of deed scam. Homeowners are tricked into signing away their property to the scammer who has posed as someone attempting to “assist” them through their financial difficulty.
