The Dodge City High School marching band performs at the Ring of Honor football game in September. The band of more than 200 students, 70 freshmen, performed at the Kansas Bandmasters Association Marching Band competition, WAC Marching Festival and Central States Marching Festival. The band placed fifth out of 21 bands at KBA and ranked superior, the highest level, at both festivals. "We march everyone, freshmen through senior, which makes it challenging at times because we're expecting freshmen to march and play at the level of a senior," band director Jason Richins said. "They usually step up to the challenge." SUBMITTED PHOTO / Dodge City Daily Globe
