Bill J. Robson

Bill J. Robson, the son of the late Othal James Robson and Flora Ella (Feland) Robson Gill, was born Sept. 2, 1947, in Cordell, Okla. He entered into eternal rest on Sept. 6, 2012, in Satanta, Kan., at the age of 65 years.

Robson was raised in and around the Elk City, Oklahoma area. The family moved to Satanta in 1954. Robson attended school in Satanta and later the family moved to Garden City, Kan. Shortly thereafter moving to Garden City, his father died so Robson and his brothers helped provide for their mother and sister. Robson graduated from high school in 1965 in Garden City. His mother Flossie raised her children to be wonderful parents; they all put other’s before themselves.

Robson was united in marriage to Kathy Sue Baker June 15, 1969 in Garden City, Kan. To this union three daughters were born, Amy Sue, Jenny Lynn and Molly Marie.   

Robson worked for Dillions from the time he was in high school and until he after he was married. He later worked for Rainbow Bread from 1971 to 1974.  Robson also worked at the A & W Rootbeer in Garden City. Robson and his family moved to Sublette in 1973, where they bought a drive-in that they named Amy’s Drive-In. They owned and operated the drive-in from 1973 to 1976.  After Robson sold the drive-in, he went to work for the Haskell County Road Department where he worked for 36 years. He also worked several side jobs- Robson worked for the Myer’s Grocery Store for a number of years, he also worked part time at Alfalfa, Inc. and helped Bill Engler on his farm in Sublette, Kansas.

Robson was a member of the Sublette Christian Church and Masonic Lodge, both of Sublette, Kan.

Robson was preceded in death by his parents, Othal Robson and Flossie (Robson) Gill, and preceded by one sister,  Ella Mae Yeadon.

Survivors include:  his wife, Kathy Sue Robson, Sublette, Kan.; his three daughters, Amy Sue Courtney and husband Kevin, Baldwin City, Kan., Jenny Lynn Reichard and husband Danny, and Molly Marie Robson and Billy Sengmany, Garden City, Kan.; two brothers, Raymond Robson, Elk City, Okla. and Jerry Robson, Boise City, Okla., nine grandchildren, Tyler James Courtney, Emily Ann Courtney, Chloe Elizabeth Courtney, Kiley Raye Herman, Alyssa Marie Reichard, Gunnar Colt Reichard, Billy Rylan Sengmany, Ayden Cole Sengmany and MaKenna Marie Sengmany; two step brothers, Chuck Gill, and Scott Gill, both of Garden City, Kan.; two step sisters, Mary Peters and Charlotte Williams, both of Goddard, Kan.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2012 at the Sublette Christian Church, Sublette, Kansas with Minister Dave Erwin, officiating. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, Kan. The family has suggested memorials to the Bill Robson Memorial Scholarship for His Nine Grandchildren’s College Education Fund, they may be mailed to the mortuary.
