Kansas organizations denounce Rep. Tarwater’s claim people with disabilities ‘can’t do anything’

Two Kansas disability advocacy organizations condemned Thursday an assertion by Rep. Shawn Tarwater that people with disabilities would “rot at home” because they “really can’t do anything” in terms of securing employment outside of sheltered workshops allowed to pay workers less than minimum wage.

The Shrine Circus is in town!

The elephants have returned to Dodge City after a one-year hiatus. Here are “Isla” and “Kelly” the Asian elephants contracted by the Hamid Circus to perform this weekend at the Shrine Circus in the Dodge City Civic Center. Adult tickets are $10 at the door and kids are $5. Elephant rides are $20.

Barclay College accepting applications for Nursing Degree Program

Haviland, KS – Barclay College has been approved to offer the traditional Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The Kansas State Board of Nursing approved the program in July 2022. Barclay College School of Nursing will immediately begin accepting applications. Courses will be administered on campus in a face-to-face format.
