Cargill Currents partners with Kansas to improve watershed health

Global Water Challenge (GWC) and Cargill announced in a recent press release the launch of six new partnerships with leading water stewardship organizations in the U.S. Kansas Alliance for Wetlands & Streams was one of the non-profit organizations selected to partner with the new program, which will address water challenges faced by communities in Cargill’s priority U.S.

Dancing in the streets the days before Christmas

Two dance troupes in downtown Dodge City Monday night honored the appearance of the virgin Mary in Mexico City in the days leading to Christmas. Danza Tepayac and Danza Santa Cruz took part in the Mexican tradition of Catholicism in celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe’s miracles in Tepayac by making their own wooden bows and dancing in a coordinated routine to the rhythmic sound of drums and wooden beads.

About this time each year, with numerous hunting and trapping seasons in full swing, we begin to hear and read stories that all center around the illegal taking of Kansas wildlife, otherwise known as poaching. Whether it’s Bald Eagles being shot, outfitters being investigated for assisting their clients in illegally taking and transporting game or numerous game law violations intentionally and knowingly committed by people mistakenly calling themselves hunters, it all amounts to theft from those of us who attempt to abide by all the game rules and regulations of our state.

Western State Bank & American Implement announce 2023 Ag Future Scholarship Program

American Implement and Western State Bank are pleased to announce the return of their annual scholarship program for western Kansas area students. The program, titled Ag Future Scholarships, will provide a total of ten $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors or current college students who will be enrolled in a college or technical school in fall 2023 and who are pursuing an Ag-related program or degree.
