Grasslands conservation legislation will strengthen collaboration, save endangered landscapes

The North American Grasslands Conservation Act will help farmers, ranchers, Tribal Nations, and others work to collaboratively address the immense challenges facing North America’s grasslands and prairies — one of the fastest disappearing ecosystems in the world. The legislation, introduced by U.S. Senators Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), will invest $290 million in voluntary initiatives to collaboratively conserve and restore native grasslands to support working ranch lands and to help recover wildlife like Western meadowlark and monarch butterflies and safeguard this vital habitat for future generations.

Governor Laura Kelly continues ‘Prosperity on the Plains’ tour with visit to Nor-Am

Governor Laura Kelly continued her ‘Prosperity on the Plains’ statewide economic development tour in Dodge City today. She met with leaders from Nor-Am Cold Storage, a freezer and production company that opened a 148,000-square-foot Dodge City facility in October 2020. Governor Kelly and Nor-Am leaders discussed how the facility has evolved since opening, how the company partners with producers and processors like National Beef, and how the arrival of businesses like Hilmar Cheese is lifting the entire Ford County region economically.
