This is day 6 of the Kansas Wheat Harvest Reports, brought to you by the Kansas Wheat Commission, Kansas Association of Wheat Growers and the Kansas Grain and Feed Association. Monday’s harvest report is a tale of the widely-varying growing conditions across the state, from abandoned acres in drought-afflicted southwest Kansas to ample moisture and good yields in the southeast.

Race wasn’t an obvious factor in the new Kansas congressional map, state’s high court says

The Kansas Supreme Court found that civil rights groups challenging the state’s new congressional map failed to prove Republicans used race as a predominant factor in the redrawing of districts. The court also said that the Kansas Constitution lets lawmakers consider partisanship when drawing new district maps for elections.

The Dodge City USD 443 BOE voted 5-1 to approve the installation of vape detectors in Dodge City High School at its June 13 meeting. Board member Jerad Goertzen cast the dissenting vote.

Dodge City Commission tries to avoid ‘hiccups’ in Sunday sales of alcohol ordinance

At its June 20 meeting the Dodge City Commission once again tabled a vote on Ordinance 3773 that would allow the sale of alcohol in the city limits on Sundays between the hours of noon and 6 p.m. Mayor Kent Smoll, Vice Mayor Michael Burns and commissioners Joe Nuci, Chuck Taylor and Rick Sowers were present.
