Traffic changes are scheduled to start June 27 along U.S. 50/56 in Spearville for a construction project from west of Main Street on U.S. 50/56 from the Davis Street/U.S. 50 intersection and will extend half a mile east to the intersection of Clark Street/U.S. 50, according to the Kansas Department of Transportation.

Tim Wenzl and his powerful pen have done it again. The archivist emeritus of the Catholic Diocese of Dodge City and author of several books on Kansas history, (not to mention a former Globe reporter from the days when the newsroom throbbed with the daily achievements of noisy typewriters and a full staff) just published his latest achievement, “Dodge City’s Mexican Village: A Place in Time 1906-1956.” The 120-page document is full of first-hand accounts and beloved photographs of scenes that were captured by Lalo Rodriguez, among others, that depict the life of Mexican residents inside their homes in the Mexican Village as well as out in the larger Dodge City community.
What began with a missing person’s report from a Spearville man June 15 led to his arrest on charges of capital murder in the double homicide of his girlfriend and their daughter June 16, according to press releases from both the Ford County Sheriff’s Office and the office of Attorney General Derek Schmidt.

June 14 was the 28th birthday of our first-born daughter Elizabeth. I wish her many more happy and healthy years. She has been married almost seven years to a nice loving husband, Tim, and they have been blessed with four precious children Abigail, five; Timothy (T.J.), three; Allison, two; and Andrea, four months.
