Dodge City Flight Nurse to be honored at annual stars of life awards ceremony in Washington D.C.

Cathy Heikes, a Flight Nurse for EagleMed/MedTrans Corp., in Dodge City, was recently named one of 33 Global Medical Response (GMR) Stars of Life. All honorees from across the country will be honored at the American Ambulance Association (AAA) Stars of Life Awards Ceremony, May 1-4 in Washington, D.C.

The High Plains Journal

There is major paper in town besides the “Dodge City Globe.” Though it has a very large number of subscribers, it is no longer in direct competition with the Globe. This newspaper has been published since 1883 under different names, including the “Dodge City Democrat,” the “Journal-Democrat,” “Dodge City Kansas Journal” and “Dodge City Daily Journal.” Starting in 1919 it started its 30 plus year stretch as the “Dodge City Journal.” During World War II, future Journal owner, Joe Berkley came from Chicago to train French pilots at the Dodge City Army Airfield.
