On Dec. 9, local industry leaders in the cattle industry received the news they would be heading into the Cattle Feeders Hall of Fame.• According to Randy Myers, public relations director for OBP Agency, the hall of fame honors exceptional visionary men and women who have made lasting contributions to the cattle feeding industry established in 2009.• The inductees and award winners for 2022 will be recognized during the 13th annual banquet on Jan. 31, 2022, in Houston, Texas.

AP-NORC Poll: Income is up, but Americans focus on inflation

WASHINGTON – Americans’ overall income has accelerated since the pandemic, but so has inflation – and a new poll finds that far more people are noticing the higher prices than the pay gains. Two-thirds say their household costs have risen since the pandemic, compared with only about a quarter who say their incomes have increased, according to a poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

National parks, icons get a makeover

Near the Tidal Basin in Washington, crews have cleaned grime off the white marble exterior of the Jefferson Memorial and fixed cracked stone to prevent falling debris. At the Statue of Liberty, plans are in the works to waterproof the exterior of the massive stone fort built in 1807 that serves as the monument’s base.

Last parent in nationwide college bribery scandal to plead guilty

BOSTON – The last parent ensnared in the nationwide college admissions bribery scandal agreed to plead guilty, federal prosecutors said. Authorities said I-Hsin “Joey” Chen, 67, of Newport Beach, California, paid $75,000 to have someone correct his son’s answers on a college entrance exam. Under a plea deal, Chen will plead guilty to wire fraud and honest services wire fraud in exchange for serving a nine-week prison term, according to a statement Thursday from the U.S. attorney’s office in Boston.
