Women’s soccer falls to KCK in KJCCC action

Dodge City women’s soccer coming off ending a long losing streak to Barton with a tie to open KJCCC action traveled to Wichita to face off with KCK and would see the Blue Devils take the match 1-0.The Conquistadors with the loss move to 0-2-1 on the season and 0-1-1 in KJCCC play.KCK would control the contest but the first half would be tight as the Conqs would only see KCK generate nine shots in the half and keep the game scoreless until the 37th minute.

Volleyball posts a 3-1 record at home tournament

At home for the first time this season, the Dodge City volleyball team played host to the Victory Electric Classic with seven total teams competing in 15 total matches and the Conquistadors put together a 3-1 record in their four contests.The home cooking for the Conqs led to a 3-1 mark at the tournament and now a 4-5 record on the season and a three-match win streak as they head into KJCCC play on Wednesday.The Conqs opened the tournament with a tough five-set loss to Eastern Arizona (19-25, 25-20, 33-31, 21-25, 11-15) but responded on Friday with straight-set wins over Frank Phillips (25-22, 25-15, 25-16) and Panola (25-20, 25-20, 25-15).

Women’s cross country places 3rd in Terry Masterson Twilight Classic

For the past nine years the Dodge City cross country team has opened their season in Hutchinson at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic and this year the Conquistador women raced their way to a third-place team finish at the meet.The Conqs posted 79 points for the meet only 16 points out of second place and first place was captured by an NCAA Division I school in Wichita State.Three sub-20-minute times paced the Conqs to open the season, while the team’s top five runners were all in the Top 20 overall.

Women’s soccer snaps 12-match losing streak versus Barton with 2-2 to open KJCCC play

Dodge City women’s soccer opened KJCCC play in impressive fashion taking on #17 Barton and the Conquistadors were on the brink of upsetting the Cougars but settled for a 2-2 tie to open KJCCC play.The tie moves the Conqs to 0-1-1 on the season snapping a 12-match losing streak to Barton as the Conqs picked up some points in the KJCCC standings.Despite some early possession garnered by Barton the Conqs would not allow them much of any good looks towards the goal and the matchup remained scoreless until the 38th minute when Martina Bonilla blasted a free kick from 35 yards into the back of the net.
