Volleyball goes five in tough loss on road versus Frank Phillips
For the third time this season in just five matches, the Dodge City volleyball team went five sets to decide the match’s outcome as they took on Frank Phillips on the road.While the Conquistadors started the match strong it was ultimately Frank Phillips who snatched up the victory winning in five sets (25-14, 21-25, 25-18, 26-28, 13-15).
Men’s soccer opens KJCCC play beating #5 Barton at home
Jayhawk Conference play opened with a bang for the Dodge City men’s soccer team as they bounced back from a season-opening loss with a win over #5 Barton at home 3-2.The Conquistadors with the win move to 1-1 on the season and snap a three-game losing streak in the series against Barton claiming the first win under the guidance of Head Coach, Juan Espinal.The Conqs would see Barton fire off a few opportunities early but then Soma Kanazawa saw an opening and from midfield launched a shot that flew over the Cougars goalkeeper and went in from 60 yards to give the Conqs the lead in the 16th minute.

19 Wildcats set for 2024 NFL season
With the 2024 NFL season kicking off one week from today, 19 former Kansas State players have been placed on active rosters, practice squads or injured reserve lists as the 32 organizations set their initial rosters for the season earlier this week.The 19 former Wildcats on opening-weekend NFL rosters are the most since they also had 19 to open the 2009 season.

Jackson County lawmakers reject Chiefs-only sales tax measure aimed at saving stadium talks
It’s back to square one for the Jackson County Legislature as it tries to figure out how to keep the Chiefs from leaving Kansas City.In a 5-4 vote, the legislature rejected a proposal to place a Chiefs-only sales tax measure on the November ballot.The quarter-cent tax would go into effect in October 2031 — after the current 3/8th-cent sales tax ends — and would fund improvements for Arrowhead Stadium and the Truman Sports Complex and would not include Kauffman Stadium.It was a compromise that 1st District Legislator Manny Abarca IV, who sponsored the measure, hoped would ease voters’ concerns about funding a new Royals ballpark.In April, Jackson County voters rejected an extension of the current tax to fund a new Kansas City Royals stadium downtown and renovations at Arrowhead Stadium for the Chiefs.“The goal is to make sure that voters have another crack at an opportunity to support the Chiefs,” Abarca said before Monday’s vote.
