On Thursday April 27, the Kansas legislature passed a bill (S Sub for HB2138) that will allow local broadcasters to video stream all post-season high school events, regardless of exclusive agreements entered into by the Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA). The House voted 85-39 and the Senate 30-9. The legislation will come into effect July 1 of this year.

The Basketball Tournament (TBT) - the 64-team, $1 million winner-take-all event on ESPN - today announced official dates for its 2023 Wichita Regional and bonus quarterfinal game, to be played at Wichita State’s Charles Koch Arena. The school’s alumni team, the AfterShocks, will again serve as regional host team as stated in a press release from of Wichita State Athletics.
The Billings Outlaws ended a three-game losing run by winning comfortably over the visiting Southwest Kansas Storm by a 6233 on April 29 in Billings. The Storm return home for its next game against the Salina Liberty on May 6 at the United Wireless Arena.

Dodge City baseball opened up a critical series against Butler in KJCCC action in El Dorado and was unable to work past the Grizzlies falling 4-2 and 5-2. The losses move the Conquistadors to 25-25 on the season and 15-11 in KJCCC action.
Dodge City baseball played too a doubleheader split against Butler at home to wrap up the series against the Grizzlies, claiming victory 7-1 in game one and falling 6-3 in game two. The split moves the Conquistadors to 26-26 on the season and 16-11 in KJCCC which is one more conference win than last season.
Dodge City softball team wrapped up the regular season with a pair of road losses in Great Bend falling 20-1 in five innings and 11-4 against Barton. The Conquistadors move to 17-28 on the season and finish 12-20 in KJCCC action.
It was another excellent performance for the Dodge City High School track and field teams which, despite competing in a field of 12 other schools, still managed to post a fifth and 6th place finish.
