Dodge City softball continued a recent offensive outburst with a pair of five-inning wins over Northwest Kansas Tech on Thursday winning 12-3 and 24-1. The victories move the Conquistadors to 17-20 on the season and 12-12 in KJCCC action, while stretching their current win streak to five-straight games.
Kansas University Head Basketball Coach Brandon Schneider has been named the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association (KBCA) Women’s Four-Year College Coach of the Year for the 2022-23 season according to a press release from Kansas Athletics.
Back to KJCCC play for the Dodge City baseball team as they opened a series with Pratt on Thursday on the road and would snag a pair of wins in tight ballgames winning 4-3 in nine innings and 5-3. The wins move the Conquistadors to 22-20 on the season and 12-6 in KJCCC action, while also giving the Conqs six wins in the last seven meetings with the Beavers of Pratt.
According to a press release from the Kansas State High School Activities Association has announced that Scott Goodheart of Pratt will join its staff as director of officials. Goodheart will serve in the role that Francine Martin fulfilled during the 2022-23 school year, the first year for this position at the KSHSAA.
The Great Bend softball team defeated the Lady Demons in game one 16-5 and 12-1 in game two Thursday, April 13. Great Bend led game one 7-1 after two innings.
The Liberal Redskins added a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth to secure a 7-2 victory over the Dodge City Red Demons Thursday, April 13 at the National Beef Sports Complex in Liberal. The Red Demons had base runners early, but Brooks Kappelmann was able to leave them stranded until the Redskin bats came alive.
Thanks to the pitch clock, the action is moving much faster at Major League Baseball games. It also means a little less time for fans to enjoy a frosty adult beverage.
Dodge City men’s golf claimed a second-place finish at the Jayhawk Match II in Wichita at Crestview Country Club – South posting a three-round team score of 871 (+19). The Conquistadors earned second place behind rounds of 292, 286, and 293 to finish with their 871 team score finishing 21 strokes ahead of third place.
The Lady Lancers softball team did most of their scoring in the first three innings and it was enough for a doubleheader sweep over Plainville Monday April 10. The Lady Lancers won the opener 13-7 then took game two 16-1 to improve to 7-1 on the season. Spearville returns to action on Thursday April 13th as they travel west to take on Southwestern Heights.
