DCHS track girls win, boys place second at Liberal track meet
The Dodge City High School track and field teams competed in the Liberal Invitational April 6. The meet consisted of four divisions: varsity girls, varsity boys, JV girls and JV boys.

Lady Demons soccer dominates
The Lady Demons soccer team was dominant in their last two games.They beat Wichita-South 10-0 April 6 and defeated Wichita Heights 7-1 April 7. Jasmine Ruiz would score eight total goals in these two games.
DCCC: Cheer wins Intermediate Championship, takes third in advanced at NCA National Championships
Dodge City cheer squad traveled to Daytona, Florida for the NCA Cheer National Championships, and for the first time, the Conquistadors competed with two teams at the National Championships. The Conqs took to the mat in the Advanced Small Coed Junior College competition once again as they have in years past and this year also competed in the Intermediate Small Coed Junior College division.
MLB average salary up 11% year after lockout
A year removed from a labor lockout that postponed opening day, major league players are enjoying their biggest salary spike in more than two decades. The average Major League Baseball salary was up 11.1% to a record $4.9 million to start this season, the largest jump for the sport since 2001, according to a study by The Associated Press.
Kansas bans transgender athletes from women’s sports

DCCC: Women’s golf places second at Jayhawk Match III, 3 golfers earn all-Conference Honors
Dodge City women’s golf wrapped up the KJCCC match play with the third conference tournament hosted in Fort Scott and finished second at the competition. The second-place finish also gave the Conquistadors a runner-up finish overall finish in the KJCCC for the year.

Kansas’ Self feels good after scare
Bill Self said he’s doing well after a health scare kept him from coaching Kansas in the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments last month, and he reiterated Wednesday that he has no plans to step away from the Jayhawks any time soon according to a press release from the school.
Lady Demons softball drops two in Hays
Hays came away with the two-game sweep on Thursday April 6 , defeating the Lady Demons. Hays needed just three innings to end the first game 15-0.
Spearville baseball sweeps Satanta
The Spearville Lancers defended their home field and defeated Satanta in both halves of the doubleheader Thursday April, 6, winning 9-7 in game one and 20-5 in game two. In game one Spearville took the lead late and defeated Satanta 9-7.
